Those who stay to work for more than three months must, as before, obtain a permit to do so. However, there are no longer any restrictions on the number (quota) of those workers who are from EU17-/EFTA member states. The bilateral agreements thus give all the aforementioned citizens the right to a residency permit. As a result, a residency permit no longer has to be guaranteed prior to arrival, and in Switzerland as a whole – in accordance with the directive of the Bundesamt für Migration or BFM [immigration authorities] – no more “guarantees of eligibility“ are issued.
The Grenzwachkorps [immigration control section] of the BFM has been informed accordingly, and will allow people to enter Switzerland without such a guarantee.
New gainfully employed persons in Switzerland who come from the aforementioned countries must register at the Einwohnermeldeamt [residents‘ registration office] of their new municipal authorities within 8 days of arrival, and apply for a permit from the aliens immigration department of the police.
