In 2000 Swiss Caps succeeded in introducing the first gelatin-free soft capsule, the VegaGels®, on the market. Therefore, it is possible to offer a vegetarian alternative to meet the specific requirements of our customers.

This new generation of soft capsules became possible using the revolutionary combination of two reliable technologies:

  • "Rotary-Die" technology
  • extrusion technology

VegaGels® provide a number of advantages:

  • Use of starch as shell material (renewable raw material)
  • Formulation free of raw materials of animal origin
  • Free of genetically modified organisms (GMO), gluten and solvents
  • Certification for Kosher and Halal possible
  • Excellent taste and smell density as well as high oxygen barrier
  • Different colours, shapes and sizes available
  • Easy to swallow
  • No aftertaste

As an alternative to modified potato starch (E1440), we also offer native Tapioca starch as shell material. Additional advantages are:

  • Artificial additive-free label (declaration as starch without e-number)
  • Tapioca starch is characterized in a USP-Monograph
