In 1984, Swiss Caps was founded as a family-owned enterprise in Kirchberg, St. Gallen in Switzerland. Today, Swiss Caps is part of Bridgepoint Capital Limited, London, a private equity company, which is the majority shareholder.
The Swiss Caps Group is one of the most successful companies in soft capsule technology worldwide, and with the production of tablets, effervescent tablets, dragées and the filling of hard capsules, it also offers a wide range of solid dosage forms.
Our modern manufacturing plants, situated at five production sites, meet all legal requirements for the production of pharmaceuticals, as well as nutritional supplements. Our GMP-certified production is supplemented by blister and dose packaging. Currently, Swiss Caps has a capacity of 14 billion soft capsules, 1 billion VegaGels®, 2 billion tablets, 700 million effervescent tablets and 500 million hard capsules, as well as 150 million blisters.
With the development of the first commercially viable soft capsule shell, based on pure vegetable starch (VegaGels®), Swiss Caps successfully entered a new market segment in 2000.
